DOILIES

Vintage, hand-crocheted doilies in a range of sizes, shapes, & neutral colors,
images shown under various lighting setups

Doilies reimagines the family gallery wall through dozens of hand-crocheted textiles pinned across a white surface. Once soft and utilitarian, each doily has been stiffened with glue and lifted away from the wall; their patterns are revealed under stage lights that cast layered, shifting shadows.

The installation transforms delicate ornament into a ghostly field of presence. Patterns multiply and hover, half object and half apparition, as shadows extend outward beyond the doilies themselves. What was once decoration becomes a lingering trace, visible in absence as much as in form.
